Location
ASK Retreat Centre is situated at Ask, approx. 9 km. north of Kleppestø, on the east side of Askøy, approximately 20 km north of Bergen and 30 km north of the international airport, Flesland.
The Retreat Centre is situated undisturbed by the sea, with a great view towards Bergen. Fine possibilities for recreation and walking in the surrounding countryside. Take a look at the photos from Ask Retreat Centre.
1-2 hours flight from the main capitals of Europe
ASK Retreat Centre is an oasis of peace and quietness, just 1-2 hours by flight from the main capitals of Europe and 30 minutes by car from the centre of Bergen.
The local airport near Bergen is called 'Flesland'. From Europe you may try to find cheap tickets to Bergen Airport Flesland (BGO) by Norwegian Air og SAS. Bergen is only approx. 1-2 hours flight from the big capitals of Europe and it takes only 1 hour of transportation to get to the Ask Retreat Centre!
If you choose one of the cheap direct flights you may arive one day before or leave one day after the start of the retreat. In that case you may choose to be a turist in Bergen - see the column to the right for more information - or click www.bergen-guide.com for accomodation, attractions etc in Bergen. You are also welcome to stay at Ask Retreat Centre and pay NOK 300 extra per night.
If you arrive late in the evening at the airport the day before the start of a retreat the cheapest option is to take the bus to Bergen (NOK 85) and stay at a Guesthouse in the centre of Bergen. The next day you can explore Bergen and in the afternoon take a bus to Ask Retreat Centre. (Driving by Taxi to Ask Retreat Centre from the airport will cost you approx. NOK 650 and take around 45 minutes!)
If arriving before 8 pm it is also possible to go by bus to Bergen Busstation (35 min and NOK 85 one way) and with a new bus from Bergen to Ask, see below.

Arrival
In case you do not live in Bergen, get here by flight, train, bus or car.
Airplain or train: If you travel by airplane or train, locate the bus station (approx. 200 metres from the railway station). The bus from Flesland Airport also stops here. Then take the bus to Askøy.

Car: When you have reached Bergen, go west, over the bridge "Puddefjordsbroen" towards Sotra. Follow the signs to Askøy. Cross the bridge "Askøybroen", and then take to the right towards Kleppestø. In Kleppestø go north, along the coast, towards Ask – approx. 9 kilometres (see the map of Askøy). At Ask you drive past a school on your right hand, down a hill and past the church on your left hand. At the bottom of the hill there is a large parking place and a bus shelter. From the parking place at Ask, you follow the description From Ask to ASK Retreat Centre.
Bus: If you go by bus it takes about 50 minutes. The bus leaves every 1 – 2 hours from the bus station or Hotel Norge. Following departures (monday to friday) go all the way to Ask: 4:38 PM, 5:08 PM, 6:38 PM and 9:08 PM. Saturday and Sunday these departures: 4:08 PM and 6:08 PM.
You may have to switch busses at Kleppestø. Take the bus no. 485 (Ask/Hanevik/Åsebø). The bus from Bergen takes 45 – 50 minutes to Ask. From the parking place at Ask, you follow the description From Ask to ASK Retreat Centre.

From Ask to ASK Retreat Centre. At the parking place (and the sign ASK and FLORIDAVEIEN) you take a 90 degree, eastern turn into a new, narrow road named, Floridaveien. 100 m up the road slopes down past a yellow congregation house, on your right hand. Continue down the hill (to the left). When you have reached the plain area, you continue on a gravelled road to the right. Go past two houses, up the hill and then downwards again, to the right. The road ends at a parking place, not far from the sea, and from there you can see ASK Retreat Centre. The distance between the parking place and ASK Retreat Centre is approx. 1 km.
